Falling straps are not always proof that the whole bra is too big. Start with the adjustable part, then look at the geometry of the garment.
Quick check
Start by positioning the bra correctly, checking strap adjustment and doing the 5-Point Fit Check. Then compare current measurements with the exact manufacturer's chart.
Common reasons straps slip
- Adjustable straps are set too long.
- The band or body of the bra is loose enough to let the whole garment shift.
- Straps are set wide on the garment and do not match the wearer's shoulder shape.
- Elastic has stretched with wear.
- A racerback or cross-back style may simply suit the wearer better.
Troubleshooting order
- Adjust each strap slightly and evenly.
- Check that the band stays level.
- Move the arms through normal school/sport motions.
- If straps still fall, compare measurements with the chart.
- If the size is plausible, consider a different strap placement or racerback construction.
Do not solve slipping by creating digging
Tightening straps until they leave painful grooves exchanges one problem for another. The goal is stable placement with comfortable pressure.
Strap placement matters
Some bras place straps farther toward the outer shoulder; others use racerback or cross-back construction. A wearer with repeated slipping in one geometry may be more comfortable in another even when the size label is unchanged.
Elastic can lose recovery
If straps need to be tightened farther and farther over time, the garment may be wearing out. Compare with a newer bra before assuming body size changed.
